How to Make Easy Homemade Trail Mix

Here’s how to throw together a quick and tasty snack! If you d ouble the recipe, you double the fun! Get creative and have fun with this recipe!

  1. Add: In a medium-sized bowl, add the peanuts, cashews, M&M’s candy, and raisins.
  2. Stir: Then, stir to combine. Store in a ziplock bag or airtight container for up to one month.

Switch Up The Ingredients

The best part about this snack mix is you can use any and all of your favorite ingredients. Make it tropical with macadamia nuts, white chocolate chips, coconut flakes and banana chips. Here are a few more ideas!

  • Pepitas: Edible pumpkin seeds add a tasty crunch! Try adding any seeds you like. Sunflower seeds would also be delicious!
  • Dark Chocolate : If you’re not a fan of M&Ms, you can use chocolate chips or dark chocolate chunks for a sweet addition.
  • Craisins : If you don’t like raisins, try tart craisins or dried cranberries.
  • Golden Raisins : Also, golden raisins are softer and plumper and are a great alternative to regular raisins.
  • Nut ideas: To get all the health benefits of nuts you could try pistachios, almonds, walnuts, pecans or more in your mix.
  • Coconut : Shredded, toasted, or sweetened coconut is my favorite addition to trail mix because I LOVE anything with coconut !

Storage Instructions

Trail mix is one of those snacks that can be kept for a long time! Here are some options for storing for up to 1 month, sometimes longer!

  • Small Portioned Snack Bags: For a quick snack, use portioned ziplock bags, and then they’ll be filled and ready for busy days on the go.
  • Large Ziplock Bag: If you store trail mix at room temperature in a tightly sealed ziplock bag, then it will stay nice and fresh!
  • Airtight Containers: You can keep it in glass jars or any container with a lid that seals tightly for maximum freshness. I have a cereal dispenser I can grab a quick handful when I need a pick me up!
